Miekankoski Café & Museum of Log Floating

Miekankoski Café sits on a small island between the lake and rapids, alongside the former log-floating buildings and bridges. A map or a single photograph cannot hold the café, museum and waterways together.

A shortcut between Lake Saimaa and the Mäntyharju waterway opened in 1910, making Miekankoski a junction for two log-floating routes. The present cabin, forge and warehouse date from the 1940s. Log floating ended here in 1975, and the site was adapted for museum and tourism use in 1990.

We captured the island from the air using a 360-camera drone, processed the footage into a 3DGS Gaussian splat, and added annotation elements. The aerial view keeps the museum, café, shoreline and water routes in the same frame.
