01 · Problem

A crater field is hard to read from ground level

At ground level, Kaali’s wooded rim hides the form and scale of the crater. A map marks the site, but it does not show how the main crater, nearby settlement and surrounding fields fit together.

The Kaali meteorite impact is estimated to have happened around 7,500–7,600 years ago. Today the main crater is the most visible part of a field of nine craters.

02 · Approach

Aerial 3DGS for the meteorite landscape

We prepared the aerial scene as a browser-based 3DGS tour. Visitors can move between an overhead view of the crater field and closer views of the main crater, while annotations can attach visitor information to the places they describe.

03 · Outcome

A destination tour that opens in a browser
