A 1950s architectural home explored as a miniature AR scene

50s Apartment by the Sirens

For Espoo City Museum, flyAR created an AR time-travel scale model of a Kaija and Heikki Siren apartment in Tapiola, letting visitors explore a 1950s version and compare it with present-day 360 photos.

The exhibition needed to make the Sirens' residential architecture vivid, domestic, and interactive rather than only documentary.

02 · Approach

Approach

We built a miniature 1950s apartment model with playful interactions: a ringing phone, radio, oven, door, magazine, animated characters, and links to present-day 360 views.

03 · Outcome

Outcome

  • Visitors could move between 1950s design and the apartment as it looks today.
  • Small interactions made the domestic scene feel alive.
  • The AR layer supported culture and history storytelling inside the exhibition.
