A fast-turnaround social AR filter for Finland's Eurovision moment

Käärijä · green bolero social AR

Warner Music Finland asked flyAR to create a body-tracked social AR version of Käärijä's iconic green bolero outfit shortly before the Eurovision 2023 final. We built the effect for TikTok and Snapchat so fans could join the Cha Cha Cha moment themselves.

01 · Problem

Problem

The campaign needed a recognisable social AR effect on a tight Eurovision timeline, built around an outfit that audiences already associated with the artist.

02 · Approach

Approach

We focused the effect on the bolero, where body tracking could carry the idea immediately. TikTok and Snapchat were used because they supported the needed tracking flow at the time.

03 · Outcome

Outcome

  • Käärijä used the TikTok effect himself in what Frans notes is still his most-watched TikTok video.
  • 23.8k public TikTok videos were created with the effect.
  • The artist's own effect video reached 26.7M views.

Brand, retail & product moments

Extend packaging, POS, showrooms, and events into an app-free / browser-based brand moment people can open without installing anything.

Worth knowing before you write a brief

AppsFlyer's 2025 benchmark across 28 billion installs puts Day-1 retention at around 25%. AR apps sit below that floor, because every reviewer is a single-use case, not a habit. WebAR removes the funnel. The link that opened the experience the first time still opens it the second.
